Please join the Peoples' NonViolent Resource Coalition (PNVRC) and the Women of Color Resource Center in a continuous reading of Dr. King's 1967 Riverside Church speech, "Beyond Vietnam."  This speech was a decisive challenge to the war in Vietnam and has served as a rallying point for all who oppose war.

Please join a mosaic of voices in honoring Dr. King by opposing war against Iraq.  Participants include Keith Carson - Alameda County Board of Supervisors, Nancy Nadel and Jean Quan - Oakland City Council, Dona Spring - Berkeley City Council, Beryl Wainwright - President of NOW and other elected officials, community and
labor leaders and youth.

We will meet in the Plaza outside the Oakland Federal Building, 1301 Clay Street from noon to 5:30 p.m.  A noon press conference will be followed by the reading.  The 3:30 - 5:30 segment will feature students from Social Justice Community Development High School, Oakland High School and Spoken Word. Join us and bring your friends.  This event is part of the nationwide United for Peace and Justice actions around Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

  • Supervisor Keith Carson will address us and we will then take BART to the Embarcadero in San Francisco for the March Against War and Racism.
  • The Assembly in S.F. begins at 11:00 am, followed by a march and rally at the Civic Center.  If we all work together to build a major movement for peace and justice, we can overcome the war makers
